In my company, my role/position/title is of Account Manager, however, I am just what you call a glorified Customer Service Representative handling almost all operaitonal aspects for my company in a particular geographic region. The job used to excite me because I was able to travel and not be in an office setting all day long. Meeting new people, helping them resolve their issues and helping with their customers used to be challenging and made me feel rewarding. Now, it is just annoying as I answer and send emails consistently all day (no thanks to the corporate Blackberry) or am tied to my phone all day talking, explaining and teaching annopying, ignorant clients what has already been agreed with them. Can you really fault anyone if you actually believe in a company called “Cash4Gold”??? At first, I thought it was just a late night infomercial they played along old show re-runs but seems like they are huge now. Must be really profitable by scamming people’s valuable gold and in exchange paying out lowly sums of cash. Just found an article of an ex-employee giving his confessions for working at Cash4gold.
I guess people really don’t know much about schemes but honestly, can you trust a company that will basically send you an envelope for you to put your jewelry in and then pay you on what they determine the value of the items? Last week, I read an article on regarding the Top 10 Careers that top $30 an hour, and made me realize two things:
I expected some of these careers/jobs to be paid more.
I’ve personally hit this mark myself as well, but I thought I would be better off financially or more comfortable.
Although the article reads generically and offers a mean hourly wage for the career and most likely a median salary as well, it got me thinking. In a certain sense, I felt proud that I hit this point in my career, basically doubling my salary since graduating college; but I also felt disappointed and a bit let down.
Perhaps I need to be better at financing or realize I can do more with less and control my spending. However, I don’t believe I am a big spender or impulse buyer. Heck, both my cars... Continue Reading...
