It has been a roller coaster ride of a season and playoffs for these Los Angeles Lakers and by closing out the Orlando Magic this past Sunday in Game 5, they are once again the NBA champions. The significant meaning of this championship is evident by its historical importance. This will be Phil Jackson’s tenth NBA championship and he now surpasses Red Auerbach to be the greatest coach of the game of professional basketball. This will also be Kobe Bryant’s first without Shaquille O’Neal.
Our Zenmaster, maybe he'll get Ariza and Odom to return for less.
However, I think the biggest significance above all to me is the fact this time around, the championship was built not over night but over 7 years. Phil’s return and patience to teach and mentor this young group... Continue Reading...

I caught this on the Best Damn Sports Show last night where they showed a clip of an interview conducted last year by Ron Artest of Kobe Bryant. Artest’s looks like a kid all excited meeting his idol. No wonder Kobe’s got no respect of Artest’s game. It was nice to see the Lakers play last night with a sense of urgency and spanking the Houston Rockets by 40 points. The series goes back to Houston for game 6 with Lakers in a commanding 3-2 lead.
I just hope there is a repeat performance to close out the series rather than a repeat of last Sunday’s spanking by the Rockets.

It was the showdown we were anticipating for Christmas Day, a rematch of last year’s finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics. Coming in, Boston had won 19 games and the outcome, Lakers ended that streak with a win down the stretch led by Pau Gasol. Fast forward to earlier this week, Lakers faced Celtics in Boston. Boston is riding a high again winning their last 12 games. Outcome? Lakers again snapped their winning streak on the Celtics home floor without the just injured Andrew Bynum. Not only were the Lakers playing without Bynum, they had a tough game against Toronto the other night and this was a second game of a back to back.
Fast forward to today; Lakers versus Cavaliers, Kobe versus Lebron. Earlier this week, Kobe dropped 61 points on the Knicks on... Continue Reading...

If you have followed the NBA for the past 5 years, no doubt the most dangerous player in the professional basketball has been none other than Kobe Bryant. The same argument can be said before that, but for the sake of argument; the guy is just simply amazing.
He has had 3 NBA championships, albeit, those were won with Shaq on the roster but that should not be taken away from him. I will always remember the Conference Finals against Portland Trailblazers, where the Lakers were down beginning in the fourth quarter. The play that defined the beginning of the first of three consecutive championships for the Lakers was when Kobe lobbed the pass to Shaq for an alleyoop dunk. Amazing!!
After Shaq was traded away, the Lakers were out of the playoffs the first year, making the playoffs twice... Continue Reading...
