Thats right; another write up of the iPhone 2.0 firmware upgrade from 1.1.4 firmware. There are reviews from Gizmodo and Engadget; but they released their articles too early. (As expected, causing problems for those that attempted to update their iPhone non-3G to 2.0 firmware.) Released from WinPwn, you will need to download WinPwn 2.0.0.2 (NOT 2.0.0.1 as I have tested and tried using it which failed).
The main point is that most articles or forums that will explain how to upgrade your iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0 will have you downloading WinPwn 2.0.0.1 and give bad instructions. However, I can vouch that after following these instructions; I have successfully updated my non 3G iPhone onto the 2.0 firmware.

I have had an iPhone since October of last year [2007] and even though it was unlocked to work with any sim; I had left it as that. I did not put any extra software since I didn’t have installer. Also, I was still sitting on firmware 1.0.2. I was not all interested in updating the iPhone until there was a firmware worth the upgrade. That is until I saw some of the functions available on the 1.1.3 firmware that I decided to update.
Did I want to take it back to where I purchased my phone for the update? I probably could have taken it there but they would have charged me for it. Also, I would miss out on all the fun of actually unlocking my own iPhone. Since the iPhone came out, there have been numerous development teams out there unlocking and jailbreaking the phone so you... Continue Reading...

With the Apple iPhone, comes an ocean of options when it comes to accessorize your new gadget. From the next Bluetooth headset to cases to earphones to screen protectors but here is something I have not seen yet. iPhone metal plate covers that lets you distinguish the look of your device. These metal plates are made from 99.9% gold foil plus EMI fiber and removes 95% of electromagnetic waves. The plate covers are for the front and back and come in two different color options right now; silver and gold.
I have included some additional pictures.
They also have these metal plate covers for the iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPod shuffle and Nintendo DS.
What do you think? Would you add this mod to your phone?

I have been using my Apple iPhone for a couple months now and it is a great gadget, even though I have not even did any modifications such as using the JailBreakMe application. Clearly the iPhone has alot of computing power yet it is severely crippled but for me, it is such an upgrade of bounds and leaps from a Nextel i830 phone that did not even have a camera that I am mostly satisfied with the stock iPhone.
However, evidently there is a host of 3rd party applications one can do to unlock or tap the potential power of the iPhone. At the moment of this writing, I do not know if there is anyway capable using the iPhone to make voice calls to other telephone numbers with its wi-fi capability but that certainly would be suite. No need to be dependent on your cell phone carrier’s minutes... Continue Reading...
