Movies with amazing musical scores

I have been trying to compile a list of movies that had memorable movie scores to it. Several come to mind such as The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, Titanic, etc. However, I think my personal top 5 movies with amazing music soundtrack scores are the following:

Rudy Rudy - the movie The first time I saw this movie was in my sociology class. Didn’t think too much of the movie at the time, except that this is the ultimate underdog movie and I shared a name with the movie’s title. I think the musical score stood out the most and made this movie a whole lot better. Very dramatic indeed.
Requiem for a Dream Requiem for a Dream I saw this my first year in college recommended by my roommate. Movie was awesome and musical soundtrack made it unbelievable. Yes, the change of seasons, the psychedelic theme, and probably because I was under the influence made this movie and soundtrack especially memorable. To this day, I can still feel chills when I hear the violin from the main theme.
The Last Samurai The Last Samurai I saw this movie twice in the theaters. It wasn’t an especially great story; although I thought the movie’s cinematography and costumes were awesome. Add the musical score in the background, it just played over and over in my head. Must be my fondness toward Japanese culture and the Meiji period, due to watching one too many Kenshin episodes.
Cruel Intentions Cruel Intentions Movie wasn’t impressive. Soundtrack impressed me. I really did not pay too much attention to the story; at the time Sarah Michelle Gellar was pretty hot but after watching her nose for too long; it became annoying. The background musical score made the mood though. It is one of the tougher to find soundtracks out there. I believe it is from the same composer of Requiem for a Dream.
The Rock The Rock Awesome characters, awesome plot, awesome movie! Period. How can you not like Sean Connery’s character in this movie; the only man to escape Alcatraz? Also, listen to the music that plays in the background. Everything goes with whats going on the screen perfectly. Especially the scene between Sean Connery meets his in-movie daughter.

Just Once, plain & simple.

once coverFor the past two weeks of the holiday season I have been catching up on movies; visiting the local Blockbuster at least 3 times a day during the weekend (Thank you movie pass).   I came across a movie I must recommend.

Once is a film which depicts a lost wandering musician trying to find himself and meets a lady with a similar passion for music.  They find each and build a wonderful friendship and both improve their lives in the end as opposed to where they were at the start of the movie… namely lost and stuck.

Kaleidescoping home theatre for an added touch

The kaleidescape server unit.A home entertainment media center that has all the movies and music with a graceful user-interface that rivals Apple’s software? I came across this expensive yet bad ass home entertainment unit system and I am utterly blown away. This multi-media home theater solution is called Kaleidescape and if you watched their product demo video, you too will agree that this is the future.

The user-interface appears to be similar to something from Apple iTunes except it navigates through movies and music. The Kaleidescape unit is a server that comes pre-loaded with a whole lot of programming and the scalability to increase data memory for more storage. The server unit acts as the main brain unit and from there you are able to connect its Kaleidescape movie player device to any room and you will be on your way to displaying your catalog of multimedia content. (This is similar to satellite television receivers that serve two areas, but everything is via ethernet so the bandwidth is much larger in comparison.)

Best free tv and movie streaming sites on the internet.

For the longest time I had held off on paying for television services either cable or satellite. I even avoided FTA (free to air), basically hacked satellite service. I basically relied on getting my television or movie fixin’ via the internet. I admit though, I still have a Blockbuster movie pass because I still want to watch movies via my home theater but in order to get by on the times when I run out of interesting movies to watch or if I am traveling, I rely on the internet and all its great content available.

Here are some sites, in no particular order I use to get my television or movie programming:

Basketball Season Begins on Next-Generation Consoles

Another year past and even with the NBA’s image taking a beating over the summer, we approach October and that is when the next series in each 2K Sports and EA’s basketball entry will be released. Even if the NBA referee scandal is still in our minds and the freshly number one draft pick Greg Oden being out for the season; I am still excited about being able to play as the Celtics and using Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Can you imagine that?

This will be the third year for both company’s producing their respective software on both the XBox 360 and PS3. My expectations are very high and after playing around with both the demos, the game plays for both are very smooth and they both have incredible high definition graphics. But I have not logged enough time to clearly say which one is a winner nor can I base a game on a demo. I played the demo version on the XBox 360 and you can download it at the XBox Live Marketplace for free. You are able to play a couple quarters to get a feel for the game.

Before Tequila, it was just Tila…[w/ pics]

tila before tequilaSeveral years ago I found a cute Vietnamese aspiring import model named Tila Nguyen. Now she has blown up to be the biggest MySpace pseudo-celebrity and real soon, we will be watching her reality show on MTV. The crazy thing about this show is that it is unlike the other shows like the Bachelor or MTV’s other show Flavor of Love where you have a single group of women competing for the love of a man. On this show, you will witness a first ever, two groups biding for Tila’s attention. A group of 16 men and a group of 16 women competing for Tila’s love. The catch is neither group knows about the other group.
