God of War 3 Review

It’s here.  Finally here.  I’ve been waiting for God of War 3 since they announced it back when the Playstatioin 3 was launched.  From teaser art pieces all the way to the E3 demos and trailers; I knew this game was going to be epic. I needed my fix of Kratos. As Epic as it Gets To sum up, God of War 3 is a video gaming masterpiece and pure adrenaline to play.  It continues the tradition of the original series in its delivery of fluid game play.  The visual spectacles and grand scale of it all just completely immerses you.  If you have never played one of the God of War games yet, I highly suggest it. The background story is that you control Kratos, a spartan warrior, who has made a deal with the Gods to have omnipotent power.  The setting is in ancient times of Greek mythology... Continue Reading...

At-will employment, what it all means

At-will employment, what it all means

Ever since graduating from an undergrad program at an Universtiy, all my jobs have been at-will employment.  And I’ve experienced first hand what it felt like to be laid off as well, once so far.  As the recession continues to loom over our heads, I am feeling a bit uneasy day by day.  And I have to say, at-will employment sucks arse!  The way it is defined just does not protect the employee and there is no guarantee. My industry at the moment, is in hospitality and tourism.  I do not work for a hotel per se but am in that environment and the hand that feeds is suffering tremendously.  My company offers technology solutions, not audio-visual, for events held in the conference spaces at hotels.  When the hotel’s own sales staff struggle to book enough meetings, my revenue... Continue Reading...

Streaming Netflix, Hulu, television shows to your PS3, XBox 360 or Wii

Streaming Netflix, Hulu, television shows to your PS3, XBox 360 or Wii

Ever since owning a Sony Playstation 3, I wanted to use it as media center instead of just a gaming console.  It already had the capability of browsing the internet with its built-in web browser and wireless/wired ethernet capabilities.  It can handle formats such as Video CD’s, DVD’s and Blu-ray.  It could also handle digtial formats like .avi, mpeg videos, etc. which you can plug a USB flash drive and play off of.  However, I did not feel like constantly using the browser to watch YouTube videos. Instead, a company called MediaMall came up with an awesome solution allowing me to stream video onto my videogame consoles such as the PS3, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii called PlayOn.  Best of all, it allowed access to Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and other internet video sources.  Being... Continue Reading...

Doomed… Red Ring of Death to my 360 console…

I been hearing about it ever since the Xbox 360 was launched more than 2 years ago (?) and even have had friends speak about it.  It must have been fate because the night I experienced it, there was an article featured on Yahoo! about the high failure rate of this console.  And finally the unholy sight of the Red Ring of Death do I understand what its all about.  I may be fortunate that my console is actually about 2 years old and it lasted this long but at the same time; I have played less than a handful of games. I also have my doubts that the system will be cured of this overheating cause of the red rings of death issue even when I do receive my console back.  And I wonder if they will even attempt to fix it at all; since my console in question actually showed the symptoms of the system... Continue Reading...

Almost smashed my Wii because it didn’t play Smash

Last week, Nintendo released the highly anticipated U.S. version (NTSC) of Super Smash Brothers Brawl on the Nintendo Wii console and after reading great reviews from Gamespot, IGN, and others; I had to go out and get it. I already knew I was going to pick this game up but since my Xbox 360 decided to turn the Red Ring of Death on me; I figured nows the perfect time to just play Smash. So how did my experience turn out? I decided to trade in several games to get in on a promotion to get Smash at Gamestop for only $9.99. First Gamestop I get to around my house has no extra copies; apparently they only had enough to cover pre-orders. Who actually pre-orders? And I got this game on Monday; it was released Saturday. They should already received their second shipment already. Anyways, had... Continue Reading...
