Ever since the Tim Donaghy referee scandal tarnished the NBA last year, the league has been heavily repairing its image. The 2009 NBA playoffs has been one of the most exciting in recent memory because of the hard battles and games played so far evidenced in the Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls match up and the Los Angeles Lakers versus Houston Rockets match ups. However, a lot of this positive has been headlined by the piss poor refereeing that has been going on.
Here are several examples:
Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls
Rajon Rondo nearly takes off Brad Miller’s head yet its not called a flagrant foul.
Rajon Rondo throws an elbow at Kirk Hinrich yet no punishment is taken from the league.
Los Angeles Lakers versus Denver Nuggets
Dahntay Jones purposely trips Kobe Bryant;... Continue Reading...

Since building my new computer, I have been tinkering around with multiple operating systems and for the first time getting lots of play time with Apple’s Mac OS X. Altogether, I’ve switched to using my Hackintosh for about 8 months now. I started off using the iDeneb version of 10.5.5 install disc based on the specs of the component parts I used to piece my PC together. Alas, several weeks ago, Apple released the 10.5.7 update and I had to update because I had skipped out on 10.5.6.
I am a hardcore PC user as long as I can remember but since Vista was such a miserable failure in my opinion, I wanted to try alternative operating systems. After trying different flavors of Linux, I came to settle on using OS X. It just feels much more polished than what any other desktop... Continue Reading...

A friend told me to remove the Flashmo template for my website and my intention is to make one a whole new site. I’m just not satisfied with my level of creation working with Flash at the moment. I want to have it mostly HTML and CSS and perhaps implement a bit of Flash.
Also, just learning the ins and out of Photoshop and Illustrator as both can be used to create website layouts.
Here are a couple of logos I have drafted in Illustrator.
This is a flat design I pieced together. It is a font I was able to connect together to get the end result I was looking for. The RJC on the left has straight edges and the one on the right has rounded edges. Personally, I think the rounded edges is more elegant. This is what I started off with, lettering and combining it together to have... Continue Reading...

Have you ever ordered a meal at a Vietnamese restaurant? Not only is it worded in three different languages it is also very confusing. It reminds me of reading lines and lines of computer code. You see the same words in different variations and if the menu didn’t have pictures; it would take even longer to decide what to order.
Now its easy when it comes to ordering because you just use the numbering system rather than try to say what you want. It makes it easy because the person taking your order probably has a limited grasp of the English language. (This goes for most Asian restaurants.)
I noticed that the menu can easily be improved to add efficiency. Instead of a new name for a rice plate or bowl of pho when a different meat, vegetable or side is introduced, why not just... Continue Reading...

Last week when Google’s site went down, I felt all alone. My morning routine was ruined because I couldn’t check my email, access my RSS reader, look for news and have my questions answered. The sad reality dawned on me is how reliant I have become on Google. My life is simply revolved around it. The mere fact I couldn’t just launch a browser and fire up a search on Google felt powerless. Sorry Yahoo, Microsoft Live, etc. Google is simply irreplaceable at the moment.
Although Google cannot interact with you it feels almost animated. You type in something to search and an answer spits out from it based on relevancy. Its like my mentor, teacher and best friend. Through the search results, I see it as its guidance to where I can seek more help. In the end, I always... Continue Reading...
