In the hospitality industry, there is always going to be outrageous prices from the $40 for a gallon of freshly squeezed orange juice to the $250 for high speed internet access in a meeting function. This is fairly standard pricing but the problem is, the demand for broadband internet access is becoming much higher and the need is much more common than in the past. In addition, not only is bandwidth demand much higher so is usage demands. These are dilemmas that network companies such as Wayport, iBahn, Swisscom, Guest Tek, Lodgenet, etc. all face day to day.
These companies are in a battle because they charge a premium for their services. The service is basically broadband high speed internet access; whether it be in the guest room, lobby areas or conference space. The problem arises... Continue Reading...

Ever since graduating from an undergrad program at an Universtiy, all my jobs have been at-will employment. And I’ve experienced first hand what it felt like to be laid off as well, once so far. As the recession continues to loom over our heads, I am feeling a bit uneasy day by day. And I have to say, at-will employment sucks arse! The way it is defined just does not protect the employee and there is no guarantee.
My industry at the moment, is in hospitality and tourism. I do not work for a hotel per se but am in that environment and the hand that feeds is suffering tremendously. My company offers technology solutions, not audio-visual, for events held in the conference spaces at hotels. When the hotel’s own sales staff struggle to book enough meetings, my revenue... The NBA season is coming to a close and it has been quite a remarkable season. There are several surprises but to me the biggest surprise of the year has been all the talented rookies in last year’s draft. These rookies have been contributing on playoff teams and most are regular starters on their team. One factor can be attributed to all the injuries this season thus given more playing time opportunities for these rookies. However, these rookies needed to product when given the opportunity and so far, so good. Here is my list of top rookies of this year broken down in top three format per position, namely guard, forward and center. All these players are no longer under the radar and should be expected to be drafted in many fantasy leagues next year.
Point Guard:
Derrick... Continue Reading...

My attempt at a photorealistic lamp.
I’ve been spending more time in Photoshop recently starting first with sketching on a tablet. I recently switched from using all CS2 products to CS3 so I am still getting familiar with it. Yes, I am far, far behind since CS4 is already out but I probably will never need those new features. I was able to get some sketches down but I needed to learn some techniques to paint. As usual, I would Google everything scouring the net for tutorials, walkthroughs, and videos on some of these tips. I found some pretty great videos (not actually tutorials) of some artists literally all digital tablet gods at painting in Photoshop. **Sidenote: Is it even more difficult to paint in MS Paint? Not only is it amazing to watch the videos it also... Continue Reading...
