Hello all! As usual, I get an inside look at some cool events where I work. This weekend happens to be the IMATS. Not sure what it stands for but it is makeup related. I know it simply as the Video Makeup Artist Show and it is not just your normal makeup you pick up at the local Sephora. These are heavy makeup for photography or the ones you see in movies.
I am actually not attending this expo but did get a few snap shots of some of the models on display for this expo. Hope you enjoy all the pictures. Click each thumbnail for the full size image: Continue reading ‘Better than the Hollywood wax museum…’
We are a nation lacking sleep. I would rather sleep that extra 15 minutes than eat breakfast. Do you eat breakfast? If your like me, then you probably miss the most important meal of the day, EVERY DAY! (The whole sleep topic will be discussed in another post) So why do we leave out this most important meal of our day to get our day started? I don’t have an answer to that but I do have an answer for having breakfast.
I recently watched a movie called ‘Flakes’, it is a comedy love story trying to over come all odds. Go rent it, its a pretty good movie. I found the most interesting part of the movie was the business concept on a breakfast store serving ONLY cereal. So simple yet how come there aren’t franchises yet? This is the next business opportunity that could explode like what Starbucks did for coffee. Coffee was something you could have prepared to drink at home, at the office or picked up at any mom & pop donut store. Starbucks took coffee to the next level; offering multitude of choices and alternatives. From cappuccinos, lattes, frappacinos to now even iced tea varieties. The pure convenience of having coffee anytime of day to any where you live and marketing it as the trendy thing to do became a phenomenal money maker. No more is coffee constrained for the morning or the typical sleep depraved coffee fanatic. It is available to all! Worse of all, coffee is not even supposed to be healthy for you.

Sometimes you find an image that needs little a work and I figured this would be a fun one because what can be done should be subtle. The girl in the image has great features and amazing eyes; but it is a bit dark. I tried to just clean it up a bit and add a bit more color to it.
The changes are minimal but the overall feel is considerably more vibrant. The little fixes made this quick snapshot photo of her almost professional. Take a look at the before and after photos and let me know what you think.

Its been two days since the Los Angeles Lakers lost in the NBA finals.
My feelings are that the Lakers gave up. They never had any sort of control in any of the games. No rebounds, reactive defense and no effort.

I should have turned the television off after the first quarter of Game 4 of the NBA finals. I was just too enthralled by the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers were demolishing the Boston Celtics. I wanted the Lakers to keep this intensity up and take their morale out. As it turned out, it was just a false sense of security the 24 point lead the Lakers had had.
The Lakers riding on all their emotions came out tremendously. Especially the once thought to be ‘confused’ Lamar Odom, came out going 6 of 6. Once again, the Lakers had peaked too soon running on all cylinders too early in the game. It went so smoothly that Kobe Bryant did not even have a field goal in the first half. Perhaps all that distribution made KB24 too passive and when it came time to require his rhythm, he could not shoot at all. (I got to give it up to the Boston defensive intensity and the never give up mentality).

Starring an all-star cast with Jet Li (Hero, Forbidden Kingdom), Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (House of Flying Daggers); this movie is set during the Qing Dynasty when Empress Dowager Cixi ruled the lands of China. The story is about a lost general meeting local bandits to rejoin the army to find greatness and glory. Among other things, a brotherhood is formed like the three muscatels except due to selfishness and drama; it all gets broken down. Betrayal, control, obsession. All characters are developed well and acted wonderfully. I cannot find much complaint.
The film is currently available on YouTube and here is the first part to get you started: Continue reading ‘The Warlords’
Do you love to eat? Having trouble finding a good website with awesome recipes? What about those gourmet meals prepared you see on the Food Network in HD? I can hear it now. All over the world where people are playing basketball and someone gets hurt, the comment, “Don’t bust a Paul Pierce!” will be forever immortalized. I saw game 1 of the NBA finals and thought the Lakers were actually doing really well until Paul Pierce thought he blew his knee out. His injury unfortunately was not severe at all. It was so insignificant that his over exaggerated agony of display of pain and then being carried off court is so much drama that no one on this side can deny. He was carried off the court by teammates and trainer to the entry hall then wheeled away in a wheel chair. He sat in the locker room for maybe 5 minutes and came back out.
Now that was an unbelievable return! Came back and made two threes which pretty much changed the tempo and final outcome of the game; especially with the arena’s fans intensity rising. I am sure Paul Pierce was in an insane amount of pain but was all that drama necessary? Was being carried off court necessary? Several blogs even noted that if indeed his knee was blown; wouldn’t being carried off cause more damage than good? Shouldn’t a wheel chair been immediately carted out?
