When I typically walk into the Apple store, I spend no more than five minutes; browsing to see if they got any new accessories for the iPhone. However, I was stuck in the store this afternoon as it suddenly started pouring hailing rain. The store actually is quite interesting, when it is not crowded on a weekday. I can hop onto any Mac or laptop and actually figure the system out. The OS is nice, a bit dumbed down from the Microsoft XP, but I think thats the appeal. As a hardcore PC user myself, I would probably have trouble adapting and learning a Mac but for a new user to computing, I would recommend a Mac as they will pick things up that much more quickly. Sure, Vista is going for that approach, but its just a faulty crappy OS at the moment. I’m still sticking to my XP SP2.
What I am most impressed with the new iMac is display monitor. It has a glossy finish and photos appear to be that much clearer. That monitor, whether it be the 20 inch or 24 inch version, is just far superior than most other LCD/Plasma displays out there.
What is also nice is no clutter; the main computer is built right in the monitor display and everything is compact. The only cables you’ll have would be one for the mouse and keyboard. I always thought the Apple’s version of the mouse with only one clickable button was bad, but I guess with their mighty mouse, you are now able to right click. This is always a plus for you just need those extra menu options right at your finger tips.
The specs are impressive, but I guess you have to go with the selection of choices given. Only the 24 inch come with a 3.06 Ghz CPU and a 512MB graphics card but that system runs over $2,000. The lesser iMac’s have less CPU and GPU specs but I think it’ll be enough for the usual computer user. Unfortunately, I tend to think I am a hardcore user needing the high-end specs but I am a bit unwilling to fork over that much cash.
What is it actually? I tried googling it to see who is the manufacturer but cannot find it. The iMac display is even far more superior than the MacBooks. The biggest selling point for me would be the beautiful display which I have not seen any where else and the other plusses are that all the computing power comes compact without any clutter. Time to save up and hopefully get an iMac soon.
