Are dreams our virtual reality simulator?

eclipse photoI recently read through a study title “Dreams: Night School” and it basically explores and defines exactly what dreams are. After running tests on lab mice from prohibiting them ever obtaining REM sleep (dream state); these mice functioned poorly and were not able to rely on their instinctive nature to react. The article further explains the reason our dreams tentatively have a negative tone is due to the fact that in our dreams, we put ourselves in situations were we are tested to react in preparation for reality. It does make sense as most of our dreams are typically negative even nightmarish. The worst possible situations we find ourselves are typically in dreams but how we end up saving the day or overcoming it in our dream is what helps us achieve in reality.
