Kaleidescoping home theatre for an added touch

The kaleidescape server unit.A home entertainment media center that has all the movies and music with a graceful user-interface that rivals Apple’s software? I came across this expensive yet bad ass home entertainment unit system and I am utterly blown away. This multi-media home theater solution is called Kaleidescape and if you watched their product demo video, you too will agree that this is the future.

The user-interface appears to be similar to something from Apple iTunes except it navigates through movies and music. The Kaleidescape unit is a server that comes pre-loaded with a whole lot of programming and the scalability to increase data memory for more storage. The server unit acts as the main brain unit and from there you are able to connect its Kaleidescape movie player device to any room and you will be on your way to displaying your catalog of multimedia content. (This is similar to satellite television receivers that serve two areas, but everything is via ethernet so the bandwidth is much larger in comparison.)

The kaleidescape movie playerTheir 1U server model can serve multiple player devices that will stream out video and music. The 1U server can store up to 335 DVD movies or 3,750 CD albums. Not only that, the main selling point is the graceful user interface. The user interface allows you to browse through cover art for movies or albums and while your browsing, it will associate the one highlighted and surround it with similar items. For example, if you are looking at the movie “Braveheart”, then the surrounding movies will probably be “300″, “Gladiator”, etc. This concept is very uber-cool and is a definite welcome to a multimedia solution. And if you start watching a movie in the family room and want to finish watching it in the bed room, you can pause and finish it where you like. These features make it very convenient and it also does away with all the clutter and unnecessary junk like cases you collect.

The many numerous features, convenience factor and creative user interface make this unit a very handsome essential unit in your home theater but the price tag is quite hefty. If you have the cash, this is the way to go since you will be digitizing your entire catalog of movies and music library.
