Basketball Season Begins on Next-Generation Consoles

Another year past and even with the NBA’s image taking a beating over the summer, we approach October and that is when the next series in each 2K Sports and EA’s basketball entry will be released. Even if the NBA referee scandal is still in our minds and the freshly number one draft pick Greg Oden being out for the season; I am still excited about being able to play as the Celtics and using Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Can you imagine that?

This will be the third year for both company’s producing their respective software on both the XBox 360 and PS3. My expectations are very high and after playing around with both the demos, the game plays for both are very smooth and they both have incredible high definition graphics. But I have not logged enough time to clearly say which one is a winner nor can I base a game on a demo. I played the demo version on the XBox 360 and you can download it at the XBox Live Marketplace for free. You are able to play a couple quarters to get a feel for the game.

Before Tequila, it was just Tila…[w/ pics]

tila before tequilaSeveral years ago I found a cute Vietnamese aspiring import model named Tila Nguyen. Now she has blown up to be the biggest MySpace pseudo-celebrity and real soon, we will be watching her reality show on MTV. The crazy thing about this show is that it is unlike the other shows like the Bachelor or MTV’s other show Flavor of Love where you have a single group of women competing for the love of a man. On this show, you will witness a first ever, two groups biding for Tila’s attention. A group of 16 men and a group of 16 women competing for Tila’s love. The catch is neither group knows about the other group.

Developer 101: Setting Up a Web Developing Environment

webgeekOne of the first steps I took to learn about developing websites was to understand how it worked and I needed to be able to work in a close environment that is not on the internet already. From working on websites in the past, I knew about servers like Apache and script languages like PHP and databases like MySQL. I set out to mimic this environment on my laptop. There definitely is no right way, but I toggled around trying to install the Apache server on my laptop along with PHP5 and the MySQL database. It was tedious and it did not work together.

Separately, I could see each program installed and working as I am able to login to my database and insert queries and tables but when I created a PHP document, it could not fetch the data. The Apache server was working but I have no clue on what its purpose was for except that I now had a localhost set up and it detected PHP and MySQL. Stumbling around but still determined, I found several packages out on the web that had all three components working simultaneous and it all came in a single install package.

Why Developers Need to Stop Building 4 Bedroom Homes!

edenglen homeThere are several major events in a person’s life and I believe owning your first home is one of them. However, with the current real estate market, it is definitely difficult to find a home. After all, my needs are simple. I do not need a large place and I do not want to live in a home that is older than my grandmother. But I do need to live in an area that is close to family and friends. But it probably seems everyone wants to live around this area.

About two weeks ago, I had let a condo slip away from me as I probably should have made inquiries on it way before hand since it was sold way under appraisal value here in Los Angeles. The condo was appraised for $399,000 and rumors had it being sold for $240,000. The information had got to me too late. I was not actively searching for a place of my own.

iPod Causing Computer to Not Startup

So you have been listening to music and charging your iPod thats connected to your computer and your suddenly prompted to restart to complete a Windows update. You go ahead and restart your computer and when it is loading back up, it gets stuck! You keep retrying to restart the computer and it always hangs up on a loading screen. What in the heck is going on? Has your computer finally broken down?

I have had several people ask me why their computer hangs after starting up and most of the times I encountered this incident, it is because their iPod is connected to the computer. It has something to do with the USB drivers being cached. All you have to get your computer up and running again is to unplug your iPod from your PC an restart again. Voila! Your PC will start up normally again.

I have read many money and financial blogs but this article absolutely puts it all together. It might have some misleading facts or misnomers but overall, it is a blue print to financial success. This all start with responsibility. You have to take ownership of your finances and do not depend or rely on other sources. Having all your finances squared away; making sure you have the best rates available; or being able to budget and save money from all aspects is key.
