Best free tv and movie streaming sites on the internet.

For the longest time I had held off on paying for television services either cable or satellite. I even avoided FTA (free to air), basically hacked satellite service. I basically relied on getting my television or movie fixin’ via the internet. I admit though, I still have a Blockbuster movie pass because I still want to watch movies via my home theater but in order to get by on the times when I run out of interesting movies to watch or if I am traveling, I rely on the internet and all its great content available. Here are some sites, in no particular order I use to get my television or movie programming: http://www.tv-links.co.uk/ – Lots of content. Easy to use. Links to movies are questionable as some are broken but the television show links work most of the time. http://openflv.com... Continue Reading...

Why Apple should embrace open-source software for their iPhone

Why Apple should embrace open-source software for their iPhone

After reading an article by Engadget, I completely agree with their point of view that consumers should hold-off on buying the Apple iPhone. The reason is with their latest firmware update, it sacrifices many features that catapulted this super smart phone to an all-star status to fight against unlocking the phone so consumers cannot use the iPhone with other carriers. The 1.01 update essentially neutered the iPhone capabilities and only added the Wi-Fi iTunes store but at what cost? After the update, it not only makes a hacked iPhone a useless brick but for working iPhones that were not hacked it becomes rather dull losing capabilities such as 3rd party / home brewed applications such as instant messaging, gaming, browsing files, voice recorder and a whole bunch more. You can take a look... Continue Reading...

A Single T-1 is NOT Enough – Part 2

A Single T-1 is NOT Enough – Part 2

If you are a meeting planner, coordinating a convention conference or expo show or the IT manager of a hotel then you will need to consider bumping up your current bandwidth if you are still using a single T-1. The reason is, a single T-1 is just not sufficient any more for holding a conference nowadays especially entering the Web 2.0 age where multimedia and interactivity is key. No more are the days where browsing the web and checking email was the only need for having internet access. Attendees are expecting more and want to pay less. And if you are using limited bandwidth such as a single T-1 to split between guest rooms, meeting rooms and your administration side, then you are looking for trouble. Sure, you can gamble that all the attendees are staying in your hotel and are inside... Continue Reading...

How to locate your internet service provider?

How to locate your internet service provider?

I had written a previous article describing why some people experience sending emails out with their email client software such as Outlook. After receiving some feedback that it was difficult to understand because I did not explain how to look up SMTP since it differs from each internet service provider. I will try to explain how you can locate who your current internet service provider is and then go on Google and look up there SMTP server. Here are some simple steps to take, step by step in doing so. Click on your START menu on the lower right corner. Click on RUN and a window will open up. Inside the window you can type in “cmd” without the parenthesis. Now, another window, the DOS prompt will open and now type “ipconfig” without parenthesis. You can locate your... Continue Reading...

OsCommerce as a beginner ecommerce site?

OsCommerce as a beginner ecommerce site?

When I started creating an ecommerce website, I had consulted my friend 3 years ago on what would be a good choice to start with. He told me to use OsCommerce because it is open source, free and customizability. I only had knowledge of html and did not understand PHP or MySQL and I failed miserably at utilizing OsCommerce. Now fast forward 3 years to 2007 and I am again tasked to create an ecommerce site. My wife had encouraged me to give it shot and to learn PHP and MySQL. I already knew about OsCommerce from my previous experience and so I spent the next month building an ecommerce site off of OsCommerce milestone 2. My second time around is much more successful as I have become more patient and not necessarily rushing into things. Please note that if you are thinking about setting... Continue Reading...
